29 Days of Self-Care DAY NINETEEN: DANCE.
Dance.

Ever been so excited you did a happy dance? Do a little shimmy when you succeed at something? Tap your toe to a beat while you work? Why not bust a move every day? We know dancing isn't for everyone, but for us, it is EVERYTHING.

Happy dancing, thoughtful dancing, car dancing, jump rope dancing; Any opportunity that becomes available we jump on. Dancing has always made a happy place in our hearts. Combining music to emotional, then to physical, after a solid dance session we always feel so much happier and relaxed. Whenever we get stressed, we get all our friends together and hit the dance floor. Busting out all the moves from the lawnmower to the whip, letting go of all the concerns and just being present in the moment to the song is bliss. But its not only good for the body!

'Dancing improves brain function on a variety of levels. Two recent studies show how different types of practice allow dancers to achieve peak performance by blending cerebral and cognitive thought processes with muscle memory and ‘proprioception’ held in the cerebellum. Through regular aerobic training that incorporates some type of dance at least once a week anyone can maximize his or her brain function.' -PsychologyToday.com

Pretty spiffy if you ask us.

Strip away the social fear of judgment or concern for how you look and shake your booty! If that doesn't make you laugh or feel happy, then you didn't try hard enough! Make an effort to dance as often as possible. Not only is it a great way to burn some extra calories, but it will also lighten your heart and ease your mind.

See you on the dancefloor!
