When was the last time you consistently took care of yourself? Have you been on top of your annual doctor visits? What about the Dentist? A Mani/Pedi?
With the chaos of our work life and adult responsibilities, it's so easy to let your personal care go to the wayside. Juggling tasks and timelines can make your own needs feel like a lesser priority. "Oh, I'll just delay that dentist visit.", "That doctors appointment? It can wait.", "Mani/Pedi? No time.". The list can go on and on.
The problem with this is that we develop a habit of self-sacrifice. We paint our own needs with a negative brush. A negative context. We treat ourselves as if we are selfish or vain to care about our appearance. Where are your priorities?
It should always be first and foremost, YOU.
When we make ourselves a priority, we invest in ourselves. We take care of ourselves, and it feeds into our personal outlook. When we feel good, our energy output is stronger. Our mindsets are positive. We set the quality of how we deserve to be treated by how we treat ourselves. We are basically plants- in need of regular watering and trimming, or we become overgrown or wilt away. Don't feel shame or guilt in taking excellent care of yourself; however that may look.
Next time you have to make a decision between your own needs and other responsibilities, stop and take a moment to consider. Is it necessary to sacrifice your needs for it? Probably not. Put yourself first and take care of yourself the way you deserve.
